Library and Information Centre

JSSATEN Library and Information Centre was established in the year 1998 to support the Educational and Research objectives of the institute, it provides information in the field of Basic Science, Engineering, Humanities, Management and related fields. The library aims to develop a comprehensive collection of books, journals e-books, and e-journals useful for the faculty, students and research community of the academy.

The Library and Information Centre is fully automated with RFID enabled circulation system and spread over 1260 square meter with air-conditioned space. It has a seating capacity of over 350 students in the Reference Section. The Library has good collection of books, journals, reports and dissertation. Library is subscribing 127 printed journals/magazines. In addition, it has ten online full text databases of Science Direct, Springer, EBSCO, Emerald, Pearson, Cambridge Core, Wiley, Taylor & Francis, New Age International, Sage Publication e-books & e-journals under Dr. APJ AKTU Nalanda e-consortium, which contains more than 2675+ International e-journals and 19386 e-Books, more than 1000+ company profiles and business publication are provided for the benefit of the faculty and research community. E-resources can be accessed within the campus or outside campus through My-Loft application.

  • ID Card should be compulsory for entering into the library.
  • All the students and staff members entering the Library shall keep their bags and other personal belongings at the property counter. Users should sign in the gate register at the checkpoint, before being allowed to approach Circulation Counter.
  • Only notebooks and the Library books will be allowed inside. All the users are advised not to leave their valuables things at the property counter. Library is not responsible for any loss of personal belongings. Library does not permit any exception in the observance of this rule.
  • Books removed from the shelves, if not required further, should be kept on the book trolley/ table nearest to them. Please do not try to shelve them yourself. Please remember that a book misplaced is a book lost.
  • Users should not deface, mark, cut, mutilate or damage library resources in any way. If anyone is found doing so, he/she will be charged the full replacement cost of the resource.
  • All students are allowed to borrow 10 books at a time. 4 books issued from lending section for a period of 15 days and 6 from books bank book for a period of 1 semester.
  • The book must be returned on or before the due date.
  • There will be a fine of Rs.1/- (one rupee per day) in the first week and Rs.6/- per day thereafter for lending section books and There will be a fine of Rs.25/- per book for book bank books if student fail to return the after completion of semester.
  • Borrowed books should be protected from rain, dust, insect, etc
  • Faculty and staff who is going on long leaves like deputation, study leave will have to return all borrowed material before leaving college.
  • Students are advised not to issue Books to others on their names.
  • Reference Documents like Dictionary, Encyclopedia, Year Books, Journals (Loose & Bound), Theses, Project Reports, Handbooks will not be issued out.
  • Borrower must make good the loss by replacing library material with same or latest edition. In case of non-availability of material, then the double the cost of the book/material will be recovered by the borrower.
  • Photocopying is available at the Library Counter the charge per copy is Rs.1.00.
  • Conversation and discussion disturbs library ambience. Therefore, all are requested to maintain dignified silence. If discussion is necessary, the common room should be utilized for the same.
  • Beverages and Eatables are not allowed inside the library.
  • All users are requested to keep their mobiles in silent mode.
  • No photograph of the Library shall be taken without the prior permission of the Librarian.
  • The Library reserves the right to call back any issued book/item at any time. Demand and suggestion slips are available at the circulation desk for your use.

LIBRARY AUTOMATION

JSSATEN library has continuously changed itself from a traditional to a modern one with the introduction of different technologies available for library. The library uses KOHA Library Management Software, which supports all in-house operations (basic as well as advanced) and services of the Library. All in-house activities in the Library including Acquisition, Cataloguing, Circulation and Serials Control are fully computerized since July 2008. Retrospective conversion of bibliographic records has been completed and Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) of the Library is operational and accessible on the Intranet. Using OPAC, user can search the books by Author, Title, Subject and keywords. Also, the user can get information about the latest edition of periodicals, books and the status of the documents.

RFID LIBRARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

In 2016, Library implemented RFID enabled Automation and Surveillance. Every document in the Library is being tagged with RFID tags and users are being issued Smart cards. One self –services station is installed to facilitate users with self issue/return of documents and one automatic drop box have been installed to return the books. Two security gates, i.e. theft detection pedestals, have been installed at the entrance and exit gates of the library to check the movement of unissued books outside the library. The database of books available in the Library is being updated on day to day basis with details of recently acquired books.
